Dec 08, 2020 · Hiking the Slot Canyon. This is one narrow slot and it only gets worse as you go further. It’s approximately 300 feet to the end. The second photo shows the space for my foot and this is only 30 feet in. This slot canyon is short but amazing. The colored layers of sandstone and the challenge of getting to the end made it a perfect slot. Egypt 3 Slot Canyon is a 7.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Escalante, Utah that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September. The canyon quickly narrows to 8-10 inches at its narrowest, with some scrambling required to make it further up. Eventually, the slot runs into a 10 foot high ledge. This ledge can be negotiated with some bouldering/mantling skills, but several more potholes at the top make turning around the better choice.

This is an easy slot canyon for beginners. The first downclimb can be done with or without a rope (depending on your comfort level). There are several "slides" in the canyon. Bring a little extra rope for some of the longer slides and drops.
